The Client Liaison Unit provides ongoing support and enhanced customer service for major development projects.

What is enhanced service?

Through the Client Liaison Unit's enhanced service, we offer:

   A single point of contact at the City of Edmonton

    Predictable and negotiated project timelines right upfront

   Scoping meetings to proactively identify opportunities and design solutions

   A project management approach focused on outcomes, not process

Which projects are eligible for enhanced service?

Projects must have a target construction date in the near term. Depending on the project, that could be within the next 12 months or a few years out. Projects must also meet a combination of the following criteria:

Location

Project location should align with the City's vision for growth as defined through policy, plans and Council direction.  Examples include:

  • Serviced and established industrial neighbourhoods
  • Commercial main streets (Jasper Avenue)
  • Areas targeted for City investment (the Quarters Downtown Community Revitalization Levy Area)
  • Near a transit centre or LRT station

Impact

Projects with impact that will move the City's strategic goals.  Impact factors that may be considered include:

  • Construction value
  • Potential job creation
  • Tax uplift
  • Number of dwelling units
  • Edmonton's brand and reputation

Complexity

Project complexity includes many aspects, such as:

  • Project or building design
  • Construction method
  • Servicing and infrastructure
  • Public interest
