Drop-In Event - August 2018

The City hosted a drop-in event on August 8 to allow residents and stakeholders to help us make adjustments to the concept plans for the Patricia Heights Corner Store Streetscape Enhancement Project. Participants were able to engage in review of the proposed concept designs, speak to the project team and complete a survey to provide their feedback. The City is interested in residents' perspective, insight and preferences to help refine the plans for streetscape enhancement. All feedback gathered will inform the finalized concept and bring this project into the next phase, Design.

About the Project

The goal of this project is to improve the function and aesthetic of the commercial centre and encourage community access and use. The approach associated with this project is to make the public space surrounding the commercial space more inviting by increasing the perception of safety, connect the business and community with amenable, attractive infrastructure and pedestrian-oriented landscaping.

This project is specific to the public realm enhancements in Patricia Heights focused on improvements to the City owned land bordering the commercial centre at 156 Street and 77A Avenue.

The intent of this project is to develop and deliver streetscape infrastructure enhancements to provide small and functional elements that contribute to area beautification and connectivity to the local community.

Project Timeline

Concept Development: June - August 2018

Preliminary Design: September - October/November 2018

Public Engagement

Strategy Phase
Engagement was conducted through a survey. This helped to define priorities for enhancements, including:

  • Explore options for pedestrian lighting
  • Integrate landscape improvements
  • Consider addition of bike racks

What We Heard

Concept Phase
Concept Phase moves the project from Strategy and is the early representation of how the project may take shape considering stakeholder inputs, site constraints, and project resources. Concept plans will be presented at a public engagement event to create an opportunity for dialog and capture participants perspectives to assist in refining the direction for project design.

Design Phase
Preliminary design will mark the first milestone in the Design phase and will be informed by the concept plan. When complete, the Preliminary Design will be made available on this project webpage. A link to an online survey will be provided to gather feedback. This will be the final opportunity for public to advise on the project. Information and updates will be shared via this webpage through the project duration.
