The first Inclusive Crosswalk was painted in Old Strathcona in 2015. Since then City crews have added more rainbow crosswalks as visible markers of inclusivity. A rainbow crosswalk was added in 2019 at 109 Street and 104 Avenue. This design was the result of a collaboration between the City and MacEwan University at the 109 Street and 104 Avenue location.
City crews have been out supporting and painting PRIDE across the City of Edmonton. Celebrate PRIDE by walking the Inclusive Crosswalks at these locations in Edmonton:
- 109 Street and 104 Avenue
- 104 Street and 84 Avenue
- 106 Street and 82 Avenue
- 108 Street and 82 Avenue
As part of our ongoing commitment to building and shaping an inclusive and equitable City, this year's annual refresh of the pride crosswalks includes the chevron of black, brown, light blue, pink and white, representing queer people of colour and transgender individuals.
