Contest begins at 9am Mountain Daylight Time on Friday February 12, 2016 and closes at 11pm Mountain Daylight Time on Tuesday February 16, 2016.

How do I enter the “Share your favourite unplugged activities” contest?

Tweet a photo of you and your family/friends participating in your favourite unplugged activity. Complete the statement “I unplug to…” and tag our @CityofEdmonton account including the hashtag #familydayunplugged. Before tweeting the photo, you must ensure that any person appearing in the photo is aware of your intended use of the photo as part of an entry in the contest and has consented to this use.

Only one entry per person will be allowed. Multiple entries will result in disqualification. Entries will be deemed to be made by the authorized Twitter account holder at time of entry. “Authorized account holder" is deemed as the natural person who is assigned to a Twitter address. Anyone found to use multiple Twitter accounts to enter will be ineligible. No responsibility is assumed by The City of Edmonton for lost, late, misdirected, or incomplete tweets or any computer, online telephone or technical malfunctions that may occur in the processing, transmission or receipt of entries. This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Twitter.

How is a winner chosen?

Contestants who correctly tweet their responses will have their names entered into a random draw to win a prize. There will be a random draw for (1) grand prize. The winner will be contacted between February 17th and February 19th via Twitter direct message. The prize winner must answer a skill-testing mathematical question in person to receive his/her prize. The contest winner will have 14 days to claim his/her prize upon the direct message from the City of Edmonton.

In order to win the grand prize, the contestant must:

  • Be 18 years of age or over
  • Currently reside within the Edmonton Capital Region
  • Correctly enter the contest
  • Have government issued ID
  • Be able to pick up prize in person
  • Correctly answer a skill-testing mathematical question
  • Sign a Consent Form for the disclosure of his/her name and Release

City of Edmonton employees involved in the design or implementation of the Share your favourite unplugged activities contest are not eligible to win the prize.

What do I get if I win?

The winner will be randomly selected in a draw for the grand prize consisting of:

  • 1 John Janzen Nature Centre Family Pass - $15
  • 2 Adult Fort Edmonton Park and 2 Children Passes- value $94.20
  • 1 Muttart Family Pass- value $37
  • 1 Valley Zoo Family Pass- value $45.50

    The value of the grand prize is $191.70

The chances of winning are dependent on the number of entries received. The winner is responsible for picking up his/her prize from the Corporate Communications office at:

Third Floor,
City Hall,
1 Sir Winston Churchill Square,
9am to 4pm

The prize will be forfeited if it is not claimed by the actual winner with proof of identification by 4pm on Monday, March 1, 2016.

Protecting Your Personal Information and Contest Information

This information is being collected by the City under the authority of section 33(c) of the Alberta Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, and will be used for “Share your favourite unplugged activities” contest purposes.
