Environment Week is May 30 to June 5, 2021. Many annual events have been cancelled, revised or postponed. Please check directly on each event page. Some, such as weed pulls and the Downtown Sustainability Stroll, can also be done on your own.

City of Edmonton Events

Change For Climate Lunchbox Series
A series of one-hour sessions on topics related to climate change, energy efficiency, climate resilience and more. Upcoming sessions include:

  • Change Mobility for Climate: Try Cycling (Thursday May 27)
  • Waste Cart Rollout & Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Household Waste (Thursday June 10)

You can also view recordings of any sessions you may have missed.

Weed Pulls
Learn what you can do to stop the spread of invasive species at home. More information about Volunteer Weed Pull events will be posted later in June. Stay tuned!

For help with identifying weeds, use the Weed Identification lookup tool or the online service (information only) or download the Edmonton 311 app.

Eco-Solar Tours
An annual weekend event featuring energy-efficient and renewable energy technology at various open houses, all within the greater Edmonton area. This year, the event is going virtual, with 5 tour dates featuring homes in Edmonton, Calgary and Lethbridge.

Root For Trees
Root for Trees is Edmonton's volunteer tree planting initiative. In 2021, they will be offering safe and fun volunteer opportunities and online bookings are now open!

World Environment Day
June 5:
 This year's theme is Restore Our Earth.

Clean Air Day
June 2: Clean Air Day is celebrated the Wednesday of Environment Week.

Downtown Sustainability Stroll
Take a self-guided tour to learn about the various sustainability features in downtown Edmonton.
