Plan ahead as thousands of racers take to Edmonton streets for the Servus Edmonton Marathon.

On Sunday August 19, thousands of racers will take to the streets in downtown Edmonton as the marathon, half marathon, 10K and 5K walk/run routes start downtown and wind through several of Edmonton’s historic and scenic neighbourhoods.

Road Closures and Traffic Delays

The race route starts and finishes at the Shaw Conference Centre (located at 9797 Jasper Avenue), requiring a full closure of Jasper Avenue, between 95-109 Street from 6am-2:30pm on race day.

Expect major traffic delays downtown and west to 142 Street during this time. Please plan ahead, as driving across the race course could take up to an hour.

See the Special Event Road Closure Map, or the Current Traffic Disruptions Map for further details.

Crossing the Route

Expect major traffic delays downtown and west to 142 Street between 6am and 2:30pm.

Course marshals and police officers will be at intersections to assist with traffic crossings when a break in the runners safely allows, but this may take up to an hour.

Suggested Alternate Routes of Travel

To detour around the race route, use 104 Avenue, 107 Avenue, River Valley Road, Groat Road, or 75 Street/Wayne Gretzky Drive.

Parking

Parking restrictions on the event route will be in effect. Illegally parked vehicles will ticketed and towed.

Weekend rates at downtown parkades and meters are available. Please obey all posted signs.

Neighbourhood Access

Many areas of the race route will allow local access only. Plan ahead and expect delays.

Impacts to downtown neighbourhoods east of Shaw Conference Centre will end by 10:30am. Impacts to downtown neighbourhoods west of Shaw Conference Centre will end by 2:30pm.

ETS Detours

ETS detours bus stop closures will be in effect. Several bus routes will be detouring and some bus stops will be closed during the event.
