Access Hours

Park areas are open for public use from 5am-11pm daily. (Bookings are limited to 8am-10pm). Amenities such as bathrooms in the parks open and close at different site-specific times. Park areas and facilities may be closed due to circumstances beyond our control such as weather damage, vandalism and construction or repair needs.

Parking and Transportation 

The City does not guarantee that public parking will be sufficient for your needs nor that all members of your party may be able to access your event. Parking regulations are enforced in City parks.

Generally vehicles are not allowed off of designated public roadways and parking areas. For book-able sites, arrangements can be made at a cost for vehicle access to drop off/pick up supplies.

The use of Horses / Carriage may be allowed by special permit on park roadways or turf. Approval is based on a variety of safety and other considerations.

Dogs and Pets

Dogs are not permitted within 10 meters of any gazebo. All other pets are not permitted on Parkland. Service animals are permitted

Site Maintenance and Preparation

Parkland sites are provided “as is”. City crews do no extraordinary work to prepare the site other than standard maintenance and cleaning. Although each location and nearby bathrooms are cleaned regularly, we cannot guarantee their condition when you arrive. You may want to consider putting someone in charge of maintenance to pick up prior to and following your reserved time.

Please be considerate of the next user and leave the location clean.

Set Up and Decoration

No rice or confetti may be used. No artificial flower blossoms are allowed.

Tables in canopies or shelters are fixed and cannot be moved.

Any temporary signage or directional aids are to be approved by City staff prior to being posted and removed immediately after event. The erection of any structures such as archways, awnings or tents (up to 20 x 40 ‘) are allowed only on book-able sites. Decorations may be put up only in a manner that does not damage park structures or trees.

Capacity/Seating

There is a predetermined capacity for each location. A maximum of 10 chairs are permitted in the grass or walk areas at any of our picnic sites and gazebo’s for those with reduced mobility, special needs and honoured guests. Please include this information with your request.

You are responsible for the set up, take down and rental of any chairs.

Food Service, Liquor Regulations and Music Licensing

Any food service may require a permit. Please view Catering and Bar Services for more details. Liquor consumption is not permitted in any open space – this includes all City
Parkland.

Live music is possible. View Music Licensing for details and requirements. Personal stereos may be used as electricity is available in some locations - maximum 75 dBA(A-weighted decibels)

Weather

City Parkland and gazebo sites are outdoor settings and are subject to the weather. It is the permit holder’s responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of their guests during their event. We recommend you closely monitor the weather during your event and have plans in place in the event severe weather threatens the area. All requests to change or cancel prior to weather event can be subject to the cancellation fees.

Inclement weather refunds will be given in the event of significant precipitation (heavy rain, hail, sleet and snow). It is the permit holder’s responsibility to contact the Bookings office to arrange a refund after their event has been affected by inclement weather. Refunds will be granted on a case-by-case basis depending on historical data supplied by Environment Canada.

Refunds will not be granted in the event of cold weather, strong winds, mosquitos or Fire Bans.
