Scientific Name: Lampropeltis getula floridana
Habitat: Florida swamps and marshes
Diet: Mainly other snakes, including venomous ones
Life span: 15 years
Young: 16-18 eggs
Size: Up to 1.8 kg (4 lbs)

This non-venomous snake features dark brown background colouration with yellow or orange crossbands. Florida kingsnakes like to eat other snakes, including their own species. They are immune to the venom of the other snakes they eat. They also eat rodents, birds, frogs, lizards and eggs.

Fun Fact: The florida kingsnake is mostly active during the day, but in the summer it may be active at night.
