Check out the creature comforts touch table to learn all about animal enrichments. Find out what enrichments are and why it’s important to use them to provide stimulating environments for zoo animals in order to enhance their well-being.

Get closer with animal encounters and special Animal Enrichment Day presentations on how the zoo provides social, cognitive, sensory and food enrichments for its residents. On your way out make sure to let us know how your life was enriched by your visit and get your picture taken at our free photo booth.

Creature Comforts Touch Table (Learning Lair) Get a sneak peak at what the keepers provide the animals all year long to keep them busy and active.
“Get Closer” Animal Encounters (Inner Zoo) Watch for Roving Interpreters!
Spot the Enrichment! Bingo (Front Entrance/Learning Lair) Grab a Spot the Enrichment Bingo Card on your way into the zoo, check off the animals you spotted the enrichment for, get a line, and win a prize! Will the enrichments be social, cognitive, physical habitat, sensory or food?
Paint Like Lucy (Behind Saito) Try to make your own painting just like Lucy the Elephant!
Photo Booth Enrichment (Saito Centre) Smile! Take part in this interactive enrichment for you!
Tours of the Reptile Wing and Reptile Encounters! (Reptile Wing) Join an interpreter as they give you a tour of the new redesigned Reptile Wing!

Animal Enrichment Day Presentations

Watch a variety of our intriguing animals receive surprise enrichments and learn about the different types of enrichment!
 
11am Elephant Talk and Painting Collaboration with Giselle Denis (Elephant Yard) Learn about the life of an elephant and watch as she paints with Giselle Denis, a local Edmonton artist!
12:30pm Social Enrichment  - Lemurs
1pm Get Closer To Lucy! Visit with Lucy at one of her favourite spots around the zoo!
1:30pm Cognitive Enrichment  - Urban Farm 
2:30pm Sensory Enrichment  - Amur Tigers!
2:45pm Arctic Shores Hula Painting (Arctic Shores) Watch as Hula, our resident Harbour Seal, creates a one of a kind painting!
3:30pm Food Enrichment – Red Necked Wallaby
