Do you like to run? The City of Edmonton has partnered with The Running Room to bring you 2 exciting running programs: 10k Training, and Learn to Run.

Benefits

Sign up for either program, and receive the following benefits:

  • 50% discount on monthly All Facility membership, pro-rated for the duration of the training program
  • Run/Walk training and group support
  • Free technical running t-shirt
  • Group seminars which include topics such as goal setting, injury prevention, hill training, cross training, motivation, apparel and shoe selection, nutrition, biomechanics, heart rate training, hot and cold weather running, and more

Please note: You must be 16 years of age to participate. Youth between the ages of 16 and 18 can attend with a parent or guardian in attendance.

10k Training Program

Location: Kinsmen Sports Centre
Duration: 10 weeks, starting date to be announced
Cost: $79.99 plus tax

This training program is designed to prepare you for a 10k event. Whether you are new to 10k training or have a time goal in mind, this program will get you there. In this program, you will be introduced to hill training and steady runs to build your training schedule.

Each class starts with a 20 to 30 minute group seminar followed by a group run. To complete your weekly training schedule, you will then join your instructor and group for runs (no class) at the Running Room’s Run Club on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings.

Learn to Run Program

Location: St. Francis Xavier Sports Centre
Duration: 10 weeks, starting date to be announced
Cost: $79.99 plus tax

Have you always wanted to run but don’t know where to start? The Learn to Run program will teach you all you need to know about running in all kinds of weather, biomechanics, nutrition, goal setting, injury prevention, motivation, pacing and much more. At the end of this clinic, you will be running for 20 minutes, about 2.5 kilometers, with a gradual progression of run and walk breaks.

Each class starts with a 20 to 30 minute group seminar followed by a group run. To complete your weekly training schedule, you will then join your instructor and group for runs (no class) at the Running Room’s Run Club on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings.
