Book this 350 seat space for your theatrical, musical, or any creative performance.

Book Your Event

Follow these steps to reserve the Performance Theatre for your event:
  1. Complete an online Event Application Form 
    Applications must be submitted a minimum of 8 weeks prior to your requested date.
     
  2. Once your event application has been reviewed and accepted, a Booking Rental Agreement will be drafted and emailed to you. 
     
  3. Return the signed Booking Rental Agreement, proof of $2 million liability insurance with the City of Edmonton listed as an additional insured, and a non-refundable deposit if 50% of the total rental fees to secure your event date.
     
  4. You will receive an Event Planning Package. This document will be a live document as the planning process develops. This is due 30 days prior to your event date.

Rates

Performance Theatre
  • $120/hour (minimum of 4 hours)
  • $1,200/day (10-hour day)

Payments

A non-refundable deposit of 50% of your rental charge per day of use must be received by the City of Edmonton before your event date can be confirmed.

The remaining rental fees and any additional services required during or after the event will be invoiced within 8 weeks of the completion of the event. 

Services Included With Your Rental Fee

  • A pre-event site and tech meeting. Additional fees apply should you require additional access to the facility before or after your event.
  • One in-house technician to support your event needs. Additional technicians can be arranged with advance notice (additional fees will apply)
  • Basic lighting instruments and sound reinforcement equipment
  • Loading dock with easy backstage access
  • Dedicated full row for accessible seating accessed through the main floor
  • Full complement of drapery
  • Exclusive use to dressing rooms (2), greenroom, box office, lobby with atrium
  • Additional spaces may be rented to suit your event needs

Services Not Included in Rental Fees

  • Post-event facility cleanup or maintenance. (As determined by the facility coordinator based on pre and post site inspections).
  • City of Edmonton Vending Permit
  • Civic event policing (including Peace Officers, Edmonton Police Services and bylaw enforcement)
  • Other services (not provided by the City of Edmonton):
    • Additional Security
    • Alberta Health Services : Food Services : Online Application Form
    • Entandem (SOCAN/Re:Sound)
    • AGLC Liquor License
    • Ushers, cashiers, volunteers
    • Production services (outside our 1 i ncluded technician)
    • Food and beverage vendors

After You Submit Your Application

Processing time may vary according to complexity and civic services required.

Submitting an application does not imply that your proposed location or date is confirmed. Do not advertise your event until you have received approval from the City of Edmonton.

Preliminary Review and Assignment

Once your application is submitted, it will be reviewed and you will be contacted by a Rentals and Events Liaison who will determine the next steps specific to your request.

Events are booked in the following priority:
  1. Historical/annual/recurring events with same date(s)/timeframe and location as previous year
  2. Historical/annual/recurring events with new date/location request
  3. New event requests
Information Gathering: Your Rental & Events Liaison

If available, and the event is deemed suitable for the specified location(s), you will receive a Booking Rental Agreement from your liaison which will place a hold until all applicable requirements are met.

Alternatives will be discussed with you if the desired date/times are not available or unable to support the event size and scope.

The Rental and Events Liaison will contact you to gather additional information, issue a Confirmation of Use and List of Requirements.

The Rental and Events Liaison will provide guidance about which permits and approvals may be required, what approvals will be needed, which civic services may be required and what the potential costs could be.

Only at this point, you are free to begin advertising your event. If, at any point, up to and including the day of your event, you fail to provide the required permits and licenses, or fail any required inspections, all or
a portion of your event may be cancelled by the approving authority.

The Rental and Events Liaison will work with you throughout the process and will always be available to guide you and answer any questions you may have.

Mandatory Requirements: Insurance & Emergency Response Plan
Certificate of Insurance

Events held on public property must provide a minimum of $2 million
liability coverage with the City of Edmonton listed as an “Additional Insured”.  Depending on the size and scope of your event, additional liability coverage may be required.

Event Emergency Response Plan

You are required to provide a detailed plan that iidentifies how you plan to mitigate risks and respond to emergencies during the event to ensure
the safety and well-being of your participants, staff, volunteers, and on-site property.

The plan must be proportional to the scope and scale of the event.

An Event Emergency Response Plan:

  • Assists in identifying risks or potential risks
  • Assists in identifying what measures need to be put in place for the safety and well-being of the public and participants who will be attending the event
  • Reduces the risk of loss of life and property damage resulting from an emergency

Due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, the Event Emergency Response Plan must now also include details as to how the event will apply and enforce AHS COVID-19 Guidance rules and restrictions. You will find all applicable AHS COVID-19 Guidance documents at the Alberta Biz Connect website. Click on ‘View all guidance documents’ and then ‘Phase 2 guidance’ to access all relaunch guidance documents.

In an effort to contain the spread of COVID-19, the City of Edmonton is taking immediate action following the direction of Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health. The COVID-19 situation is changing rapidly. Please check the City's COVID-19 webpage regularly for ongoing updates.

Cancellations

If you wish to cancel your booking, please notify the Orange Hub Coordinator as soon as possible.

If written cancellation is received within seven (7) days of the initial payment due date, the Licensee will receive a full refund of the initial payment made to the City, less a $30.00 (thirty dollars Canadian) administration fee. After seven days (7) days the Licensee will forfeit the entire initial payment. *If written cancellation is received fourteen (14) days or less prior to the Event Term, the Licensee will forfeit the total License fee paid.
