To reach the long-term goal of eliminating traffic fatalities and serious injuries, it’s critical to know where, when and why collisions happen. The Office of Traffic Safety has put measures into place and will monitor the results of the changes. This evidence-based approach determines next steps and shows what is working and what could be done better.
On September 22, 2015 City Council approved the Road Safety Strategy 2016-2020 making Edmonton the first Canadian city to officially adopt the long-term goal of Vision Zero.
