Alley renewal is a neighbourhood renewal construction service offered by the City of Edmonton for residents with gravel alleys.
About the Service
If you want the alley behind your property paved, then the entire length of your alley must be paved. All adjacent property owners must agree to have the work completed and share the cost of paving.
How Do I Obtain the Service?
Alley Renewal is usually done in one of two ways:
- Some paved alleys are reconstructed/resurfaced as part of utility (ATCO, EPCOR, Drainage) work restoration. In these situations, the Utility pays for the restoration.
- An alley reconstruction local improvement petitioned by benefiting property owners.
For More Information
The entire length of your alley must be paved and not just the portion behind your property. That's why you need agreement from the majority of property owners on your block. All residential lots backing on the alley will be assessed.
