Drivers who fail to yield to a pedestrian will be ticketed and fined $575.

Jaywalking

According to the Traffic Bylaw, pedestrians may only cross a roadway within a crosswalk, including any intersection connecting sidewalks, curbs or edges of the road.

Pedestrians must obey all traffic signs and control devices when crossing the road.

Pedestrians who jaywalk, meaning they cross outside of a crosswalk or against traffic lights, will be ticketed and fined $250.
