About the Project
Stage 1 improvements begin to transform Yellowhead Trail into a freeway facility. Following public meetings in 2011, the approved concept plans include changes at the following locations:
- Yellowhead Trail, 66 Street Access Management: closing access to Yellowhead Trail at 67 Street north and south of Yellowhead Trail; closing access to Yellowhead Trail at 68 Street north and south of Yellowhead Trail; and closing direct access to Yellowhead Trail from all alleys and driveways between 66 Street and 68 Street. Closure of access to 62 Street from Yellowhead Trail.
- Yellowhead Trail at 89 Street: closure of access to 89 Street and service road from Yellowhead Trail. Pedestrian access maintained at 82 Street and 97 Street.

Impacts
Property Impacts
Yellowhead Trail has mature and fully developed areas on both the north and south sides which have been a key consideration in developing the proposed strategy. Depending upon the scale of improvement within the corridor, some property acquisition will be required.
Where We Are Today
The Stage 1 Improvements for Yellowhead Trail have not received budget approval. If approved, construction would begin 1 to 2 years after that time.
