Road Planning & Design

Expanding and improving Edmonton's transportation system involves ongoing long-term planning. The Transportation Master Plan is the framework that responds to the City of Edmonton's future transportation needs. It directs policies and gives guidance for funding projects and programs that work towards an integrated transportation network.

The Way We Move: Transportation Master Plan

The planning of Edmonton's roadways follows a stringent set of guidelines which make up the project lifecycle. These plans help prepare for future development in the established and growth areas of the City. These are long term plans for new or upgraded transportation infrastructure, which may or may not advance to the Build phase for several years.
