Project Update - September 2014
- On September 28, 2014, traffic switched to the new QEII Highway northbound alignment.

This aerial video shows the progress on the interchange project. As of July 2015, the new bridges over the CP Railway, Queen Elizabeth II Highway and Blackmud Creek are well underway. The project is on track to open in autumn 2015.

Traffic Flow Adjustment – July 19 & 20, 2014
A traffic flow adjustment is scheduled on QEII Highway Southbound at 41 Avenue SW on the evening of July 19 at 7pm and into the early morning of July 20, 2014 at 9am. During this period, reduced speed limits and restricted lanes will be present.

The traffic flow adjustment is intended to be completed by 9am July 20, 2014, restoring 3 southbound lanes to a reduced posted speed limit of 80 km/hr.
The traffic flow adjustment will switch the existing 3 southbound lanes of traffic from the existing QEII southbound alignment to the new QEII southbound alignment associated with the QEII/41 Avenue SW Interchange project.
The above noted schedule is weather dependent.

Closure Notice - 41 Avenue SW
41 Avenue SW from 101 Street SW to 8 Street in Nisku will be closed for five months as the project team undertakes bridge construction. Detour using Range Roads 243 or 244.
Speed Reduction & Lane Closures
Construction is underway on this 3 year interchange project. 2013 work will continue during the fall months but will be weather dependent.
Speeds on the highway will be reduced to 80 km/h when work is occurring adjacent to traffic. There will be some off-peak lane closures to accommodate construction, with speed reductions of 80 km/h.
