Mill Creek Ravine Footbridge - near 22 Street & 33B Avenue

About the Project

The goals of the City of Edmonton’s Transportation Master Plan, The Way We Move, include the encouragement of active modes of transportation as well as making public transportation a cornerstone of the City’s transportation system. In line with these goals, the new pedestrian/cyclist bridge provides a connection between the Wild Rose and Silver Berry neighbourhoods to support walking and cycling in the area and to provide greater access to transit.

The scope of work included the new bridge and connections to the existing pathways. Bridge construction consisted of installation of screw piles to support the bridge, followed by the installation of the single span pre-fabricated bridge.  The new bridge is a 4.2 m clear width steel structure with timber decking, similar to the bridges seen below, and connects to the existing trails on either side of Mill Creek by a new 3.0 m shared-use pathway (SUP). This pathway will be constructed of gravel in 2013 with the intention of providing an asphalt path next year.
