Ellerslie Road Eastbound over Blackmud Creek

Ellerslie Road Over Blackmud Creek - Project Completed

About the Project

The bridge at Ellerslie Road Eastbound over Blackmud Creek was constructed in 2000. Over the last several years Ellerslie Road Eastbound has undergone excessive settlement at the bridge approaches. The City of Edmonton has completed repairs to improve the servable lifespan of the bridge. These repairs included work on both east and west approach slabs of the bridge, and the bridge railing.

Project Lifecycle - Operate

Scope of work:

  • Removal and replacement of the existing approach slabs.
  • Removal and replacement of the existing concrete barriers in construction zone.
  • Removal and replacement of the existing ACP in construction zone.
  • Removal of 1.5 m deep foam behind the abutment backwalls.

Traffic Impacts

Throughout construction, Ellerslie Road eastbound, over Blackmud Creek, was completely closed. Vehicle and pedestrian traffic had to be redirected to Ellerslie Road westbound, reducing traffic in both directions to one lane.
