Culvert Rehabilitation - 23 Avenue Over Mill Creek

About the Project

The Meadows Area Structure Plan calls for the realignment of 23 Avenue, east of 17 Street, for the development of the adjacent neighbourhoods of Tamarack, Maple, and future Neighbourhood 5. The Mill Creek culvert required a 5 year rehabilitation to extend its service life until this time.

As a result of the culvert assessment completed in 2011, the following work was completed:

  • Channel improvements within Mill Creek.
  • Abandonment of the obsolete adjacent culvert.
  • Construction of erosion prevention aprons at both the inlet and outlet of the culvert.
  • Structural steel plate repairs within the culvert barrel.
  • Guardrail repair and installation along both sides of 23 Avenue.
