153 Avenue Widening, 50 Street to Manning Drive

About the Project

The City of Edmonton has widened 153 Avenue between 50 Street and Manning Drive. The project included expanding 153 Avenue from two to four lanes. The project also included two pedestrian routes through the neighbourhood. An asphalt shared use path was installed from Miller Boulevard to Manning Drive and a concrete sidewalk now runs from Manning Drive to 45 Street.

Construction included:

  • New streetlights.
  • Construction of two westbound lanes on 153 Avenue, including turn bays, medians and concrete bus pads between 50 Street and Manning Drive.
  • Asphalt concrete milling and resurfacing of existing eastbound lanes.
  • Replacement of sidewalk, curbs and gutters and median where required.

Where We Are Today

The Design phase was completed in spring 2013 and construction was completed in October 2013.
