Northeast Road Reconstruction & Collector Renewal
Open House - May 12, 2016
The City held an open house on May 12 to display and explain the construction map, staging map, traffic detour map and pedestrian detour maps. This was also an opportunity to inform residents about the new temporary traffic signal, which will be installed at the walkway located at 74 Street South of 158 Avenue and explain how this signal will function. Also, during construction the intersection of 158 Avenue and 78 Street will be closed to all traffic.
Construction Locations:
- 158 Avenue from 74 Street to 157 Avenue
- 74 Street Cul-Da-Sac North of 158 Avenue
- 76 Street Cul-Da-Sac North and South of 158 Avenue
- 76A Street Cul-Da-Sac North of 158 Avenue
- 158 Avenue from 77 Street to 78 Street
Northeast Road Reconstruction
Northeast Road Reconstruction is the replacement of roads with special drainage enhancement (and, where required, selective concrete repair) caused by soft subgrade conditions that exist in the northeast neighbourhoods of Mayliewan, Ozerna, Matt Berry and Hollick-Kenyon. During construction, access is limited and residents will be affected by parking restrictions. Prior to the start of work, a construction bulletin will be sent outlining the work to be done and parking restrictions.
Collector Renewal
The scope of Collector Renewal can vary from road-only paving to complete rehabilitation and/or reconstruction of the entire roadway that includes roads, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and streetlights. During construction, access is limited and residents will be affected by parking restrictions. Prior to the start of work, a construction bulletin will be sent out outlining the work to be done and parking restrictions.
On an annual basis from 2012-14, approximately 20 km of mainly collector roads will be renewed in neighbourhoods throughout Edmonton.
