Alley Renewal Pilot Program
McLeod and Sakaw 50/50 cost share Alley reconstruction
A 50/50 alley reconstruction pilot program was completed in Sakaw (2011) and McLeod (2011-12). Fifty per cent of reconstruction costs were paid by the property owners via a Local Improvement initiated by the City.
Construction included reconstruction of existing paved alleys and adjacent alley crossings where required.
Funding
Alley reconstruction projects are paid for by property taxes, and cost sharing. The City and property owners share the cost of sidewalk reconstruction through a 50/50 Local Improvement tax levy. This levy can be paid in one lump sum or over a period of 10 years.
