About the Program
The City of Edmonton is Building Great Neighbourhoods. The Neighbourhood Renewal program outlines a cost effective, long-term strategic approach to renew and rebuild Edmonton’s roads, sidewalks, and streetlights in existing neighbourhoods and collector roadways throughout Edmonton.
2015 Neighbourhood Reconstruction
Neighbourhood reconstruction is part of the Building Great Neighbourhoods initiative. It is a type of neighbourhood renewal that involves road reconstruction and repaving, as well as replacement of streetlights and reconstruction of sidewalks, curb and gutter. Alley renewal is not part of neighbourhood reconstruction.
Reconstruction candidates have poor sidewalk condition and fair to poor road condition. During reconstruction, roads are repaved, and sidewalks and streetlights are replaced. Reconstruction is typically a two-year process.
