About the Edmonton International Film Festival
For nine days each autumn, Edmontonians converge upon the downtown core, to feast on a cinematic smorgasbord of the best new independent films from around the globe. Whatever the genre, EIFF programmers search the world over for the latest and greatest ‘undiscovered’ gems, resulting in a schedule that includes over 110 short films, and more than 50 features – all of them Edmonton premieres.
In the last 3 years alone, EIFF has presented Edmontonians with EXCLUSIVE Premiere Screenings of such highly-acclaimed films as:
- The White Ribbon
- It Might Get Loud
- Let the Right one in
- ANVIL! The Story of Anvil
- Rachel Getting Married
- One Week, and
- Man on Wire
…to name just a few! In addition to the great lineup of films, festival-goers have had the chance to get up close and personal with John Waters, Patrick Warburton, Norman Jewison, Deepa Mehta, Arthur Hiller, Werner Herzog, Don McKellar, Bruce McDonald, Stuart Gordon, and many more.
There are a lot of film festivals out there these days, but our guests tell us that ours is among the warmest, friendliest, best-organized film festivals they’ve ever attended – a quiet little festival in the heart of Canada, that really packs a programming punch! After all, EIFF organizers are committed to making each and every audience member and visiting filmmaker feel like a star.
So make this the year you take the plunge – join us for Edmonton’s best kept secret!
