ETS Route System at a Glance
ETS's Route System has two basic operating parts - a city-wide Base Network and a customized Community Network of routes.
The Base Network
The Base Network is designed to connect the communities within Edmonton with a reliable, consistent and simple-to-understand grid transit system. It's the foundation of the transit system, and joins communities and major destinations. such as downtown and the University of Alberta. It is concentrated along arterial corridors, is operated 7 days a week, 365 days a year, with consistent frequencies of 30 minutes or better. The Base Network will not be subject to annual or seasonal changes.
The Community Network
The Community Network has a much more localized, neighbourhood focus. It reflects more customized travel priorities of the local communities it serves. It includes commuter express service to downtown and the university, school services, community bus routes, cross-town service to major destinations, and neighbourhood collector routes. A variety of levels of service are maintained within this network, to better meet passenger demand. The Community Network services will be affected by funding levels approved annually in the municipal budget process.
ETS Route System at a Glance
Routes are numbered geographically. Routes originating within the same community have been assigned like numbers. For example, routes that serve Millwoods are numbered from 60 to 79 and routes serving Castledowns are numbered from 160 to 179. Routes 1 to 29 are the base routes. Community bus routes utilize smaller 12 to 24 passenger buses and are number in the 300's.
