ETS & The Environment
The more people we have travelling on public transit rather than in private vehicles (one transit vehicle can replace about 40 private vehicles on our busy roads), the smaller the environmental impact. In a wide-spread city where the private vehicle is the preferred choice for travel, encouraging people to use transit requires flexibility in our ability to plan both routes and schedules.
A fleet of modern and accessible diesel buses provides economical, flexible and safe travel. An extensive bus network coupled with a Light Rail Transit system designed to carry large volumes of customers quickly and efficiently enables Edmonton Transit to offer public transportation that is competitive and attractive for the community.
Edmonton Transit has a key role in a sustainable community, and our commitment to sound environmental practices has been recognized with the recent ISO 14001 certification.
