What is the Commuter Challenge?
It's a national competition between workplaces and cities to encourage healthier commuting practices.
- It promotes other ways of commuting to reduce single occupancy vehicle trips.
- Employees record how they commute to work every day.
- People who walked, ran, skated, cycled, teleworked, rode transit or carpooled are counted as healthier commuters.
- A winner is declared at the end of Canada’s National Environmental Week, June 5-11, 2011, to the workplace with the highest percentage of healthier commuters.
Taking the challenge is easy
- Walk, cycle, inline skate, jog, take transit, or carpool.
- Log trips to see the impact of your contribution, with respect to carbon emissions, money saved and even calories burned.
- Every trip logged enters you to win prizes.
