Safety for Cyclists and Motorists
Edmonton is a bike-friendly city. The City is completing the construction of 21 km of new on-street bike routes to help people choose cycling as a safe, healthy and efficient way to get around the city.
With the marking of new bike routes, many drivers and cyclists may be scratching their heads wondering what the new pavement markings mean, and how they are expected to share the road.
Cyclists have the same rights and responsibilities as motor vehicles and are not obligated to use the reserved bike or shared-use lanes.
