Property Taxes

Property taxes collected from residential and non-residential properties is one of the various revenue sources available to the City of Edmonton to pay for municipal services.

Property taxes in Edmonton account for approximately half of the City's revenue to pay for such services as

  • police and fire protection,
  • road maintenance and snow clearing,
  • parks and swimming pools,
  • public transit and
  • neighbourhood infrastructure.

The City mails property tax notices in late May every year and asks property owners to pay their taxes in full by the due date of June 30 to avoid late-payment penalties.
