Opinion Research

Computer mouse and world mapMarket research is the means by which the City gathers opinions and views from its citizens on a variety of municipal topics and issues. Typically, market research is conducted via surveys (online, telephone, paper, in-person) and focus groups. Often these are open to all residents but sometimes they are targeted at specific people based on demographic factors. The information gathered can be qualitative or quantitative, with the ultimate goal being good quality data, which supports the City in making the best decisions.

The Edmonton Insight Community is an online tool the City uses for market research which is an online group consisting of people who choose to join and whom the City engages with and learns from over time. Please visit the Edmonton Insight Community to learn more.

The Centre for Public Involvement is a centre of excellence to advance the practice and scholarship of public engagement. Please visit the Centre for Public Involvement to learn more.

The City also conducts a range of surveys. Please visit the Surveys page to learn more about the surveys the City is currently doing.
