Civic Education and Leadership
Public engagement is all about the City learning from Edmontonians and stakeholders. However, the City also has a role in supporting Edmontonians and communities through education and capacity building, and doing this as much as possible with community partners. This approach is based on the philosophy that knowledge and awareness are key foundations for public engagement.
The City has several programs and services designed to boost knowledge and support engagement:
- City Hall School (K-6)

- Leaders in Training (13-17)
- Make a Better City Classroom Program (Grade 6)

- Planning Academy – courses about planning and development
