Other Litter Prevention Programs

Looking for more ways to contribute to a cleaner and safer Edmonton? Explore the many opportunities to help Edmonton sparkle under the Capital City Clean Up umbrella.

We encourage you to participate in these programs and help spread the word about Capital City Clean Up to your family and friends.

Wildlife Rehabilitation Society of Edmonton

The Wildlife Rehabilitation Society of Edmonton provides compassionate care to injured and orphaned wildlife with the ultimate goal of returning these animals back to their natural habitat. Each year the Society receives a number of wildlife patients found in distress after coming in contact with litter or eating discarded litter found on the ground.

Litter poses a potential hazard for wildlife because the animal/bird may become entangled in it, be poisoned by it, or be struck by a car when investigating it.

Capital City Clean Up is working with the Society to spread the message that littering affects not only our environment aesthetically but also our ecosystems and all living things within it.

For further information on how you can help please visit the Wildlife Rehabilitation Society of Edmonton.

Community Can Program

The Community Can Program beautifies our communities by creating visually appealing garbage cans that keep our neighbourhoods clean. Groups or communities are invited to become involved in the program by participating in one of the following:

  • Booking a Community Can Program representative to help beautify their garbage cans.
