For Individuals
As an individual, you can help keep Edmonton clean and graffiti-free in so many ways.
Get involved by yourself, with friends, family, or neighbours. It's as easy as picking up litter on your evening walk or visiting a Big Bin Event to dispose of large items. Every little bit helps.
15 to Clean Challenge
Challenge yourself and others by taking 15 minutes to pick up some litter or report the location of graffiti by calling 311.
Adopt a Block
Volunteer to pick up litter on your favourite block, park or trail. Do it on your own, as a family or as part of your weekly walk with friends. It's a great way to exercise.
Big Bin Events
Take items that are too large for regular collection to your nearest Big Bin Event location.
- If the items are in good condition, consider donating them for reuse. See the Reuse and Recycling Directory.
- If you have household hazardous waste like varnish, batteries, or household cleaners, remember to take those items to an Eco Station.
Cigarette Litter Reduction
If you smoke, remember to dispose cigarette butts responsibly. Use a portable or personal pocket ashtray, or look around for an ashtray.
Graffiti Clean Up Kits
Pick up one of the City's free kits to wipe out graffiti on your property.
Professional Cleaning Program
As the owner of an Edmonton property vandalized by hard-to-clean graffiti, you can apply for the City assistance with professional cleaning services.
River Valley Clean Up
Help preserve one of Edmonton's best features by cleaning up a section of our river valley.
Remember to throw your garbage into a the next available waste receptacle.
Call 311 to report graffiti or litter you can't pick up.
