Instructional Swim Programs
Instructional School Swim Programs are a fun, active and educational way for children and youth to develop aquatic skills with their peers. We provide aquatic instructors and lead the swimming program for your class. There are three options available:
Swim at School Program (Red Cross Swim)
The Swim at School program focuses on learning swimming skills, exercise and safety in the water. Students will:
- get more comfortable in the water
- learn proper breathing techniques
- learn to float on their back and front
- practice sculling
- learn front and back crawl
- learn about safety – water temperature, entries into water, boating knowledge and equipment
Swim to Survive (Lifesaving Society)
Have Fun! Be Safe! Stay Fit!
Students will explore water sports, safety and aquatic exercise in this instructor-led program. We will equip your class with swimming skills and strokes to help them become better swimmers, and learn to make safe choices when in, on and around water.
I CAN SWIM Program
Note: I CAN SWIM program is only available at Kinsmen Sports Centre.
This progressive three-stage program teaches swimmers 54 water skills and focuses on seven major skill progressions: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle, water safety, entries and turns.
