Universiade '83 Foundation

The Universiade '83 Foundation Grant Program provides project-specific financial assistance to agencies that advance sport, culture, and the arts in Edmonton. Grants are awarded based upon interest earned from the principle in the Fund donated by the Universiade '83 Foundation Inc. Organizing Committee. Changes in the economy have impacted our investments and since 2008 the endowment has not provided sufficient returns to warrant the allocation of grants.

Therefore, the City of Edmonton will not be disbursing Universiade grants this year. When the financial markets rebound, we will once again call for applications.

Eligibility

Your group or agency must be:

Edmonton-based.
Registered as a not-for-profit sports, cultural or arts group for at least 1 year before the application deadline for this grant.
A public institution involved in the education or delivery of services in the areas of sports, culture or art.

Coverage

The grant supports:

Operating costs associated with the delivery of new or innovative projects, services or programs that enhance the public's awareness or appreciation of sport, culture or the arts in Edmonton.
Operating costs associated with the delivery of training opportunities (workshop, clinic, conference), which advance the knowledge of coaches, instructors, artists or performers.
Costs of essential program equipment, materials or supplies needed to provide programs or services, or to improve the internal organization or administrative capacities.

Limits

Support is generally:

Limited to a maximum of 50% of the project costs or $5,000.
Considered only once for a particular project.
