Sports Travel Grant
Sports travel grants assist Edmontonians with the cost of travel to western Canadian, national or international sports championships in which they compete.
Eligibility
You or your team must:
- Intend to compete in an event sanctioned by an amateur sport governing body that is recognized by Sport Canada or a recognized international sport governing body.
- Reside within the City of Edmonton boundaries.
- Have amateur status (whether you are an individual, group or a team).
You or your team must be:
- Sponsored by or affiliated with a registered non-profit sport organization.
- Judged as "best of city" through local competition (where applicable).
- Judged as provincial champion through competition sanctioned by an amateur provincial sport governing body that is recognized by the Alberta Sport, Recreation, Parks and Wildlife Foundation.
- Recognized as champion (by the provincial or national sport governing body) in the category in which you intend to compete at western Canadian, national or world championships.
- Selected (individual or team) by the provincial sport governing body to represent Alberta at the Canadian national championships, provided there is no competition to recognize a provincial champion.
- Invited to try out for a national team or to an event leading to competition at international level.
You are ineligible if you:
- Receive Federal Carding assistance.
- Represent educational institutions or corporations.
Application Form and Guidelines
Complete and submit the Travel Grant application form upon qualifying to compete in a western Canadian, national or international championship, or up to 90 days after the event.
