City of Edmonton election sign recycling available at the Edmonton Waste Management Centre, Ambleside Eco Station or Community Recycling Depots

 

About the Service

Recycling election signs keeps the material out of landfill and helps conserve resources.

How Do I Obtain the Service?

Candidates and residents with plastic or cardboard election signs are encouraged to bring the signs to:  

Edmonton Waste Management Centre, 13111 Meridian Street NE
Ambleside Eco Station, 14710 Ellerslie Road SW
Recycling Depots (signs must be disassembled and put in the co-mingled material bins)

If you take signs to the EWMC, please inform the scalehouse attendant that you have election signs, otherwise you will be charged the regular refuse rate.

The signs must be disassembled (wire and wooden stakes removed) and sorted into separate bins.

Large signs must be cut into pieces no larger than 3 feet x 3 feet (1 metre x 1 metre).

Fees

There is no charge if the signs and related materials are sorted into separate bins as noted above.   You must tell the scalehouse attendant that you have election signs otherwise you will be charged the regular refuse rate.

  • Loads of mixed materials that are not sorted into appropriate locations will be charged $58/tonne (minimum $17). 
  • Large signs must be cut into pieces no larger than 3' x 3' (1m x 1m).
