Concerns With Assessed Value

Review your property value assessment notice.

  • Compare your assessment with similar properties, appraisals, listings and other market value indicators. Refer to the Assessment Maps and Your Property Value link on this page for information on properties within your area or any other property in the City. Your assessment should reflect what your house may have sold for on July 1 last year.
  • New for 2010 is data specific to your property, including sales information and significant variables used in your assessment. That data can be accessed at https://assessmentinfo.edmonton.ca/ using your Password (which can be found on the front of your assessment notice).
  • If you don’t think the assessment is a reflection of the market value at July 1, 2009, or if you have other questions, contact the City at 780-496-6388 and ask for a City assessor for a detailed explanation. If necessary, data errors will be corrected.
  • If your concerns are not resolved, you may file a complaint (appeal) with the Assessment Review Board.
  • Assessment complaints must be received by the Clerk of the Assessment Review Board before 4:30pm on March 5, 2010.
  • Property owners can file a complaint concerning their assessed value, but they cannot appeal the amount of their property taxes.

An assessment complaint form is sent with all residential assessment notices. An online form is also available. For more information on filing assessment complaints refer to the Filing a Complaint link on this page.
