About Rising Youth
The Rising Youth Program is a City of Edmonton initiative that prepares young people to step up to the challenges in their community, become leaders and volunteers, and have fun in a safe, enriching environment.
Rising Youth allows youth to:
- Develop essential life-skills through hands-on learning.
- Learn problem-solving skills that can have a positive impact on their community.
- Build self-confidence to meet the diverse challenges of today’s world and learn how to responsibly make positive decisions.
Rising Youth offers an inspiring and supportive environment that will help participants develop:
- Self-confidence
- Effective communication skills
- Appreciation of nature and the environment
- Leadership qualities
- Personal responsibilities
- Social and team-building skills
The program includes indoor and outdoor activities, plus workshops on public speaking, social awareness, healthy lifestyles, and community involvement.
The program runs mainly after school and evenings, with some weekend outings.
Weekend Outings
Participants can explore new activities during free monthly outings, including:
- Hiking
- Bowling
- Paintball
- Rock Climbing
- Biking
- Swimming
- Skating
Who can participate?
Youth in grades 9 to 12 are welcome. We will offer girls-only programming depending on community needs. All programs are free for participants. Find details and a location near you here in our monthly online calendar.
