Construction and Demolition Waste Recycling

Mixed C&D recycling

A recycling facility for mixed construction and demolition (C&D) waste began operation at the Edmonton Waste Management Centre in January 2012.

The mixed C&D recycling facility provides project owners, construction companies, homebuilders and haulers with competitively priced options to divert material from landfill and further their own and Edmonton’s reputation for being “green”.

The facility uses mechanical and manual sorting to separate mixed loads of material into various re-usable commodities.

Bring in your mixed loads of material and leave it to us to do the sorting. To qualify as a mixed load, approximately 80% of the load must be made up of typical C&D materials, such as:

 • Wood
 • Cardboard
 • Metal
 • Paper
 • Drywall
 • Plastics
 • Asphalt/Concrete
   (maximum dimension of 80 cm)
 • Ceramics
 • Asphalt Shingles
 • Flooring material

(Thermal insulation, common household or office trash, and built-up roofing membrane are non-recyclable and should not make up more than 20% of the load.)

Loads must not contain asbestos. Please dispose of paints, adhesives, solvents and other hazardous materials at an approved facility.

Fees
