Garbage & Recycling

|
Winter waste collection began November 1. |
Since starting a curbside recycling program in 1988, Edmontonians have proudly become national leaders in effective waste management.
Residents enjoy the convenience and efficiency of a two-stream waste system:
- Recyclables are taken to the Materials Recovery Facility.
- Garbage is taken to the Edmonton Composting Facility.
Through recycling and composting, Edmonton is diverting 60% of residential waste from landfill.
Edmontonians also demonstrate their concern for the environment by making excellent use of Eco Stations, which are drop-off facilities for household hazardous waste and almost all other waste materials.
The Materials Recovery Facility and the Edmonton Composting Facility are located in the Edmonton Waste Management Centre.
The new GEEP Electric and Electronic Waste Recycling Facility is where e-waste is processed for recycling.
