University Station Art
Two public art installations have been installed in University Station, and you need to look way up to see them. They're suspended from the ceilings at the end of the escalators in each of the mid landings, one level up from the train platform. Other than being suspended from the ceiling, they're not at all alike.
"Tri: Making the Impossible Possible, 2003", by John Tam and Rob Hora is a colourful optical illusion of a giant steel ball suspended in the centre of a triangle. "From Here 2003", by Tim Antoniuk, Colin Birnie and Adrien Cho is a series of 12 aluminum sculptural forms suspended from the ceiling.
These works are from an invitational challenge to University of Alberta Art & Design students.
Thanks to The Works Society Art & Design in Public Places Program for working with us to acquire two new, very unique pieces of art for the LRT system.
