The TraXSafe program is designed to help transit customers, pedestrians, and motorists stay safe around LRT tracks and at LRT stations.
Safety Information
TraxSafe Pedestrians
Pedestrians and transit users are encouraged to follow these tips to stay safe around LRT.
- Always obey signs and signals;
- Always cross at designated safe crossings;
- Always look both ways before crossing;
- Never stop on the track;
- Don’t play on or near the tracks;
- Don’t put anything on the tracks;
- Be careful when crossing the tracks;
- Never try to race a train;
- Stand back from platform edges;
- Listen for station or train announcements.
Be alert! LRT trains can come from either direction on any track.
Safety around LRT Tracks
- Cross quickly, and only at marked crossing areas;
- STOP, LOOK in both directions, and LISTEN before crossing the tracks, even when warning bells, lights, and crossing arms are not activated;
- Obey all signs, signals, and announcements;
- Don’t cross in front of or behind stopped trains;
- NEVER walk along tracks.
Safety on LRT Platforms

- Stand back from platform edges;
- Pay attention to announcements;
- Don’t engage in horseplay on the platform or near the LRT tracks;
- Be aware of the location of emergency phones and station/platform exits;
- NOTE: All stations are monitored by security cameras.
Use Pedways where available
- Be courteous to others and don’t play in or block walkways;
- Be aware of the location of emergency phones and exits;
- NOTE: Underpasses and pedways are monitored by security cameras;
- At McKernan/Belgravia, use underpass to cross 114 Street at 76 Avenue;
- Southgate and Century Park LRT and Transit Stations have pedways have above street pedways over 111 Street.
TraxSafe Motorists
Traffic controls are in place along the LRT corridor to accommodate LRT operations around impacted LRT Stations.

Be aware of traffic control signals at these intersections along the LRT corridor.
Churchill to NAITLRT trains operate along 105 Street up to Kingsway Avenue and continues until Princess Elizabeth Avenue and 106 Street with stations at Kingsway/RAH and NAIT. Intersections

Southgate to Century ParkLRT trains operate along the median on 111 Street from 61 Avenue to 23 Avenue with stations at Southgate and Century Park. Intersections

LRT Traffic Signs and Signals
As a motorist, you must obey these signs and signals for your safety and the safety of pedestrians. Look both ways before moving into the track area. Be on the lookout for the LRT at all times – it moves quickly and quietly.
