Home Insulation Rebate
Update! The City of Edmonton’s insulation rebate program ended on March 31, 2012. If your post-evaluation work was completed between April 1, 2011 and March 31, 2012 it would have been filed by your energy assessor with Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) and sent on to Climate Change Central for consideration.
The rebates offered by the City were available on a first-come first-served basis, until funding runs out. C3 continues to receive evaluations from NRCan for consideration for rebate processing.
Note: no application was necessary.
Why Upgrade Your Insulation?
In Alberta, space heating is the largest energy consumer in our homes; upgrading your insulation becomes a VERY cost-effective way to cut your energy bills by up to 30% and also reduce your greenhouse gas emissions.
Insulation is measured by an R value (thermal resistance) which indicates a material’s resistance to heat flow. A higher R value represents a material’s improved insulating ability.
In Alberta, the following R values (insulation levels) are suggested by Climate Change Central:
- Attic R-50
- External Walls R-20
- Basement external wall R-20.
For more information on insulation, check out our Home$avers booklets.
Signs that your home could use additional insulation include:- Unevenly heated rooms
- External walls and base floors that are cool to touch
- Unusually high heating bills.
