We provide a list of financial incentives for various sectors in the Edmonton area. Note: These are not all CO2RE incentives, but rather a listing of what is available. For more information on non-CO2RE incentives, please contact the organization associated with the incentive program.
Financial Incentives for the Residential Sector
Insulation Rebate
City of Edmonton’s insulation rebate program ended on March 31, 2012. If your post-evaluation work was completed between April 1, 2011 and March 31, 2012 it would have been filed by your energy assessor with Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) and sent on to Climate Change Central for consideration.
The rebates offered by the City were available on a first-come first-served basis, until funding runs out. C3 continues to receive evaluations from NRCan for consideration for rebate processing.
New Provincial Rebates
The province, through Climate Change Central, is investing $36 million in consumer rebates to help Albertans reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. As part of the three-year program, retroactive to January 1, 2009, rebates are available to existing homeowners who improve their energy efficiency and to new home buyers who purchase energy efficient homes.
CMHC mortgage loan insurance premium refund
If you use CMHC insured financing to buy an energy-efficient home, purchase a house and make energy-saving renovations or renovate your existing home to make it more energy-efficient, you may qualify for a 10% refund on the Mortgage Loan Insurance premium. You could also have the added flexibility of a longer amortization (the period of time required to repay your mortgage) from 25 years to a maximum of 40 years, significantly reducing your monthly payments.
Genworth Energy-Efficient Housing Program
Homebuyers purchasing an energy-efficient home, or refinancing an existing home to make energy-saving renovations with Genworth-insured mortgages, are now eligible for a 10% premium refund. Genworth is making the program available on loans with up to 40-year amortization periods at standard mortgage insurance premium rates.
TD Green Mortgage and Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC)
TD Canada Trust is offering 1% off the posted interest rate on a five-year fixed rate mortgage or on a five-year fixed rate portion of a HELOC. They will also rebate up to 1% of the amount of the mortgage or the fixed rate portion of the HELOC when you make ENERGY STAR® qualified purchases, and at the time you receive your rebate, TD Canada Trust will donate $100 to the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation.
TD Meloche Monnex Green Wheel™ Discount
TD Insurance offers 10% off of your total automobile insurance premium, up to a maximum of $5,000, on recognized hybrid vehicles.
