The Renewable Energy Task Force was created by Edmonton City Council to develop and deliver a report to the City of Edmonton that examines the opportunities, barriers and potential technical, economic, and policy solutions to the generation and use of renewable energy in Edmonton. The task force has one year to complete its work.
The 12 members in the task force include hand-picked experts from the community who represent institutions and organizations in the areas of engineering, environment, policy, economics, renewable energy and training.
The members of the Task Force will look at all aspects of renewable energy including its energy generation, emission reductions, costs, viability, and the barriers to its implementation.
As part of their work, the Task Force will seek the advice and input of other municipalities, countries, academic institutions and industry, for the broadest range of options available to the City.
