How Front Yards in Bloom Works

After the nomination deadline, volunteers will visit each nominated yard to deliver a Front Yards in Bloom sign and certificate to homeowners.
Volunteers also select some top front yards in Edmonton.

Front Yards in Bloom helps:

  • encourage a beautiful community;
  • recognize the contributions of local gardeners;
  • foster community involvement; and
  • improve Edmonton’s standing as a community in bloom.

Additional Information

Front Yards in Bloom began in 1999 as part of Edmonton's involvement in Communities in Bloom.

Partners:

Just Food Edmonton will select an “Edible Front Yard” to show how edible landscapes contribute to local food security and local beauty.

Several community leagues will also run a local Front Yards in Bloom program. Community leagues will announce their top local yards in the fall.
Top yards that are chosen by community leagues stand a greater chance of becoming a finalist in next year’s city-wide Front Yards in Bloom.
