River Valley Clean Up

Since 1987, thousands of city residents have scoured Edmonton’s parks system as well as the shoreline of the North Saskatchewan River to pick up litter.
At the kickoff event on May 5, 2013, 267 volunteers picked up more than 200 bags of litter around Louise McKinney Riverfront Park. Another 350 people from neighbourhood communities around Mill Creek Ravine gathered to collect garbage along that waterway. In the first week alone, residents picked up 155 cubic metres of litter - enough to fill up seven of our largest garbage trucks.
If you share a passion for our city’s magnificent natural resource, register today to clean up part of our river valley during the warm-weather months. Gather friends, family, co-workers or community members and make it an event!
You can choose your own area, or let us provide you with a site. We will supply gloves and garbage bags and will pick up the litter you collect. Please sign up so we can keep track of all our dedicated volunteers.
