Parking Requirements for Mature Neighbourhoods

Comparing Parking Requirements

Based on a motion passed by City Council on September 9, 2015, administration is preparing a report about the current parking requirements for residential developments in mature residential neighbourhoods, around transit centres, and in special areas like Blatchford.

The report will compare Edmonton’s Zoning Bylaw requirements to equivalent requirements in other Canadian cities.

What's Changing?

This report is for information only. No changes are being proposed.

Administration will be compiling Edmonton’s existing parking requirements and comparing them to the parking requirements of similar municipalities across North America.

The report will provide Council with information about how to better meet the parking needs in Edmonton’s mature neighbourhoods. A report is targeted to go to Executive Committee on June 21, 2016.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our online general parking survey. The survey is now closed. Your feedback will be used to inform the discussion at Executive Committee in June.
